Lord, Change Me Where I Cannot Change Myself

Lord, I come to you carrying a weight I have not been able to put down on my own—this anger that has put distance between me and the people I love most. These months of fighting and regret have worn me down, and I am tired of being this way. You see what I cannot always name in myself. You know the wounds I have caused to those closest to me, and you know how desperately I want to stop.

I do not want to keep hurting the ones I love. I have tried to change on my own strength, and I have failed. My anger rises up before I can stop it. My words cut deeper than I intend. The distance grows, and the regret settles heavy in my chest. But I cannot fix this alone. I need you.

Change me where I cannot change myself. Do in me what I have failed to do. Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. I ask not just for control over my anger, but for transformation at the root—a new heart that reflects your love and patience, a spirit aligned with your holiness.

I trust that you who hear this prayer are able to finish the work you have begun in me. You are not limited by my failures or my weakness. Your power is greater than my destructive patterns. I surrender this anger to you. I surrender my pride and my inability. I ask you to work in me, to heal the broken places in my heart that fuel this rage, and to restore me to the people I love.

Help me to be the person they deserve, the person you are calling me to be. Renew me from the inside out. I trust you with this. Amen.
